Three Benefits Of The Modern Angelus Seamer
Posted on: 7 September 2017
A little over a hundred and twenty years ago, tinned food was something almost unheard of, unless you were in the military where tinned food was the primary source of food for soldiers. Like all things first used in the military, tinned, or canned, foods became more commonplace in the civilian world. By WWII, lots of foods were canned and preserved for ordinary consumers. This helped preserve a lot of produce and meat that would have otherwise spoiled. With advancing technology in factories, things like the Angelus seamer were born. Here are three benefits of the modern can seamer:
Well-Preserved Food
Without seamers, food could leak from cans, be invaded by bugs and bacteria, and make thousands to millions of people sick. Cans are tightly heat-sealed by seamers to prevent all of the above. Additionally, food is well-preserved for several years. Most cans are stamped with a "best used by" date, but canned and sealed food can last several months past that date.
Nothing Gets out or In
Canned food is often stored in a warehouse for a couple of months before it is shipped out to the stores. Most people are not aware of this fact any more than the fact that warehouses frequently have issues with rodents, cockroaches, dust and dirt, bacteria, etc. With tight-lipped seams on all of those cans, nothing can chew its way in or out. No dirt, dust, or bacteria can get into the food either. The seamer that does the best job prevents the most contamination and saves the most lives.
Seamers Are Fully Automated and Last Nearly Forever
Seamers add to your factory's automation process. They are one of the last stops on the canning line. Fully automated, you never need a worker to stand by and operate the machine.
Seamers also last nearly forever, as attested to by much, much older models of Angelus seamers that are still seaming cans twenty, thirty, forty, or more years after installation. An investment in a seamer is good for the company, excellent for the consumers, and worth the money for decades to come.
Need to Replace Your Current Seamer?
If you need to replace your current seamer, there is no time like the present. Of course, future models may be even better, but since most seamers all do the same thing, that remains to be seen. Buy a new seamer, and the company will ship it on a pallet directly to your factory.
