Three Steps To Insuring Product Quality Before Items Leave The Factory
Posted on: 26 April 2017
Being in charge of the factory production of your product gives you a lot of control. If you want to make sure the quality of your product is fit for the public, you should institute quality control checks that happen before the products leave the factory. Here are three steps to make sure that your product has the proper quality every time before it leaves the factory.
Place a product standard at the end of each assembly line
The best way to make sure that a product is up to standard off the assembly line is to have the product standard at the end of the assembly line. If you manufacture lipsticks, place the perfect lipstick at the end of the assembly line. This way, those who are checking the products before boxing will be able to catch any of the products that do not meet the quality check standard. Have any products that are below standard returned to the beginning of the assembly line so that they can be manually or automatically taken apart and fixed if possible.
Have random inspections
If you want to be sure that all of your products fit the bill for the market, you can institute random inspections. A random inspection means the quality control team will select boxes that are prepped and ready to go out. After the boxes are randomly selected, the products should be looked through in order to determine if they are the product quality standard. If the random inspection finds products that are not ready, the entire batch should be inspected to make sure that the products are ready. Quality control stickers should be placed on boxes that have been inspected and approved for transit.
Create barcodes for ready products
After the products are inspected and ready to go out, the batch should have a bar code placed on the box. Have your inspectors carry around mobile barcode printers. The mobile barcode for the quality inspection should give the date and time that the barcode was created, along with the name of the inspector. This way anywhere that your products go, if there is a problem, you will know how to find the professionals who reviewed the boxes. Printing mobile barcodes in a bright color will also make it easier to know which boxes are approved to go out in the mail or on the trucks for transit into stores.
